We have to know what we are actually working with.  Start by making a quick list.  It does not need to be pretty.  This will be our master list, and it will be revised repeatedly, so it ends up quite messy.

Write down everything that you need to accomplish in the immediate future.  This can be anything with a looming deadline within the next couple of weeks to a month.  This can give you a great indication of where you need to start.

Any other goals can be broken down into as small of a task as possible.  These will preferably take no more than about 30 minutes.  Bonus points if you can get the actions down to 5 minutes.

As you start completing small portions of the list, a subtle shift in thinking will occur, giving you that drive and positivity to tackle more and more projects.  It also prevents you from spinning your wheels in frustration and wasting time on tasks that do not require your immediate attention.
